THE STAKES
Two numbers decide what CBAM costs you: how much you import, and how little of it still counts as free.
Import more than 50 t of CBAM goods in a year and it is all yours: the obligation, the paperwork — and the authorisation you need before you cross the line, which takes up to 180 days.
| Year | Free allocation remaining |
|---|---|
| 2026 | 97.5% |
| 2027 | 95.0% |
| 2028 | 90.0% |
| 2029 | 77.5% |
| 2030 | 51.5% |
| 2031 | 39.0% |
| 2032 | 26.5% |
| 2033 | 14.0% |
| 2034 | 0.0% |
The share of emissions you don't pay for falls to zero by 2034. Every year, more of each import is billable.
HOW IT WORKS
No data entry, no CBAM expertise. Connect your sources once; tarify walks each document from inbox to declaration — you only step in at the end.

One kg-vs-tonne slip or a wrong CN code mis-states what you owe
tarify reads each document and shows where every value came from. What it can't settle, it stops on and puts in front of you — it never guesses.
An under-declared import only comes to light with the penalty
Certificates and cost under the current EU rules. Want your suppliers' actual emissions? tarify requests them on your behalf.
Deadlines tracked in a spreadsheet, per importer
You review the declaration and file it in the CBAM Registry. tarify never files on your behalf.
Start freeThe figures are calculated under Regulation (EU) 2023/956 and Implementing Regulations (EU) 2025/2620 and 2025/2621, using the 32,790 official EU default values and 10,340 benchmarks. Every value read from your documents is marked in the customs document it came from.

SECURITY
Your documents sit on our own servers in the EU, and the AI extraction runs in EU regions only — every other region is blocked in the policy. Encrypted in transit and at rest.
No third-party tracking, and nothing resold. Every figure is checked against the primary EU legal text, with a full audit trail available on request.
GOOD QUESTIONS
If you import iron or steel, aluminium, cement, fertiliser, hydrogen or electricity into the EU, probably yes — once you go over 50 tonnes in a calendar year, counted across all of them together. tarify checks your imports and tells you plainly, in a couple of minutes.
The first thing that happens is not a fine — it is a rejected customs declaration. Past 50 tonnes you need an authorised-declarant number to clear goods at all, and that authorisation takes 120 to 180 days to obtain. Penalties for importing without it run to three to five times the carbon you should have surrendered.
No — that's the whole point. tarify does the expert part behind the scenes. You add your customs documents, review the result, and have the filing ready for the day the EU registry opens in 2027.
Not at all. You'll never see emissions math or legal jargon unless you go looking for it. You get plain answers: whether you're affected, what you'll owe, and what to file.
Yes. Your documents stay in the EU, are never shared, and are never used to train models. Every number tarify produces is checked against the actual EU legal text.
